Nineteen of the Russian's 21 victories have been earned on hard surfaces

A revitalized Medvedev secured his maiden trophy for 882 days with victory over Corentin Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The athlete, a former world number one, has endured a challenging season, achieving just one win at the Grand Slams and suffering a setback at the US Open.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serve in especial - caused him exiting of the elite rankings and finally separating with long-time coach Cervara.

Currently collaborating with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently improved in the past month - culminating in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over opponent Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's maiden championship following the Rome competition and maiden on a hardcourt after that period of the previous year.

The win also signifies the Russian has won twenty-one victories at twenty-one different competitions.

"It's the first time I'm at a event with my children at once, so to secure a championship is really nice," stated world number 14 the champion.

"This title is in dedication of my second daughter her name, because the first title I won when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had failed in his previous six title deciders, featuring in the German tournament in the past months.

The player's defensive play style and frequent reactions on the playing surface had led some to wonder if his ability to perform at the highest level was over.

But the 29-year-old has altered his approach in recent weeks, making an effort to advance forward and perform aggressively, backed up by an enhanced service.

Medvedev fought back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the challenging Frenchman, winning 4 of the last five points to gain the advantage.

The competitors exchanged break points in the middle set before the challenger, attempting for his initial tour victory, gained dominance to push for a final set.

Moutet saved four early-game chances in a close deciding set before the Russian secured a break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Fittingly, he secured victory with a point at the net, with the Frenchman failing to handle a shot after a lengthy match.
